You could use Apache rewrite rules to transform sensible URLs like gerrit.wikimedia.org/git/mediawiki/core/includes/libs/CSSMin.php into this ugly syntax. The rules would have to indicate where the project ends and the file starts. I wrote [[Template:Git file]] on Mediawiki.org to hide some of the ugliness on wiki pages.
