If our aim to > allow users to let external tools access their account without a password, > OAuth would be the thing to enable. > [...] That's not what Daniel wrote. The aim is to allow external tools to verify that a user has authority over a wiki account. Take a look at http://toolserver.org/~magnus/tusc.php to understand what hoops users now have to jump through. Chris, given http://permalink.gmane.org/gmane.org.wikimedia.toolserver/5295: | [...] There are hacks like TUSC that we want | to replace with better systems/services (e.g. OpenID/OAuth). | [...] what's the current status of this bug? The "2012-13 Goals" lists for "Q1 (July-September)" "OAuth/OpenID/SAML - initial test implementation for highest value use cases". "Are we there yet?" :-) http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/OAuth suggests that OpenID is not in consideration by the WMF. Can we close this bug then as WONTFIX? -- Configure bugmail: https://bugzilla.wikimedia.org/userprefs.cgi?tab=email ------- You are receiving this mail because: ------- You are the assignee for the bug.
