I think any other such future requests (including this one) should perhaps go through LangCom to make sure it isn't problematic. The status quo is problematic particularly for multi-lingual projects such as commons, meta or even wikimania. These wikis typically use the ku language code (reading just "Kurdi") to refer to the kmr dialect of Kurdish.
