Wouldn't it be better to just copy the database (without locking) first to
minimize downtime? That way all edits up till the first run would be coppied
before actions afterwards can be applied to a locked wiki?

This might not be worth the time for smaller wikis but I imagine renaming
larger ones would take a considerable amount of time.
