I find it utterly confusing that you don't seem to apply this rule to my
comments.

You missed a couple words: "would be nice to", "might".

Perhaps you didn't read the sentence till the end: "start from the SVG version
*of the MediaWiki button*", which surely would have some useful element to
reuse. I don't know if one exists, though.
