            Bug ID: 44115
Summary: Bugzilla doesn't filter by component when checking for
                    duplicates
           Product: Wikimedia
           Version: wmf-deployment
          Hardware: All
                OS: All

Bugzilla doesn't seem to take component into consideration when checking for
duplicates when entering a new bug.

This seems to be an issue mostly because of how we use components, but perhaps
this is just a general bugzilla issue and not something we can actually do much
about. I don't know.

But it makes a pretty big difference what, say, extension a bug is referring
to. Even if it's the exact same bug, if it's on different extensions it's still
probably a different bug on each that needs to be fixed on each, unless it's
actually a core issue and just plain miscategorised, so filtering out the other
ones would be rather useful when looking for real duplicates, especially given
how hard to use the search function is on its own.

As it is I've found the best way to search for duplicates is to just submit a
bug and see if someone who knows what they're doing will mark it as a
duplicate.
