From what I know both do the same. Both fail randomly for over a year now. Comment 75 explains this very well (thank you very much). His point 1 ("Squid/varnish cache contains images that aren't in Swift") is not a separate issue. It is an effect of point 2 ("Multicast purge requests don't make it to all of the Varnish & Squid caches"). Bug 41130 was created because bug 31680 was assigned to the wrong developers. It became clear that this is not a MediaWiki bug. However bug 31680 was not closed or reassigned because there *is* something the MediaWiki developers should do. They should implement a workaround to help us break out of that deadlock situation. See comment 16 and several others. No one ever replied to that (maybe because it should be moved to bug 31680). Five days ago bug 31680 was reassigned. Now it is a duplicate. > needs a separate report. I will not create more reports with the same issue.
