With the old planet it was every 2 hours, as far as I remember, and Daniel says
there's no particular reason to keep it so rare.
Rationale: once a day, and at midnight (UTC) even, means that all Wikimedian
blogposts are delivered to the readers old and rotten.
Also, they may well never be seen if the reader's aggregator sorts by date and
in the meanwhile there's plenty of new items burying the planet's.
