I realize, of course, that Echo is a MediaWiki extension and that this bug is talking about MediaWiki core. My concern is basically that the feature in MediaWiki core isn't wonderful (echoing comment 3) and I think most wikis would be better off waiting for a better notification system (Echo). All that said, e-mail notifications are one of the areas I know very little about, so my comments should be taken with a large grain of salt.
