Current specific Error messages are: Network failure - 'Unable to login - network failure' User name issue - 'Unable to login - please check your username' Password issue - 'Unable to login - please check your password' Throttled - 'You have had too many unsuccessfull attempts. Please try again in 5 minutes' Blocked - 'Sorry, this user has been blocked on Commons' Other (shouldn't really happen) - 'Login failed' This turns up as a red colored prominent notice right above the username field.
