My bot was trying to change the value for "sex" on
https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Q855 to and ran into a
"setclaimvalue-save-failed: Failed to save the change" error. I ran into the
same issue using a web browser.
On about the fifth try of me just hitting "save" over and over it went through:
https://www.wikidata.org/w/index.php?title=Q855&diff=14119091&oldid=12734120
Also, a more descriptive error message would be helpful :)
