In general I agree, but who defines when an extension gets archived? :)
After how much time is an extension considered unmaintained?
(This is a general question, also in other FOSS projects, and I don't expect
answers from you of course.)
Once Wikimedia SVN is shut down I was planning to go through Bugzilla
extensions and close those ones that never got migrated to Git.
When closing as WONTFIX I prefer to add a whiteboard entry
extension[unmaintained]
and an explaining comment, see e.g.
bug 17175 comment 2.
