If I edit a protected page, it gives me a large multi line warning and all the
edit window is in red. After editing, the page is still protected - all OK.
However if I create a previously salted page, the warning is not so obvious,
the edit window has a white background suggesting an unprotected page, and
after pressing "save", the article is totally unprotected and the protection
log show no evidence of any protection being removed - check my test at

- the last entry is fully protected and the page is currently unprotected.
