            Bug ID: 50776
Summary: Tooltip indicating "no" for math formulas not obvious
                    for tall formulas
           Product: VisualEditor

                OS: All

Copied from English Wikipedia:

Hovering over a displayed math formula in <math> tags is supposed to get a
tooltip that explains that the formula can't be edited in the VisualEditor. It
sort of works; but it has trouble with tall formulas. The tooltip doesn't show
up unless the cursor is moved to the middle of the formula. For some formulas
this is OK, as users can be reasonably expected to put their cursor in the
middle. For other formulas it's not. [See the link for] the opening of
[[Companion matrix]], which has both a formula that works and one that doesn't:

It would be more helpful if the tooltip appeared whenever the cursor was over
any pixel of the formula, not just a middle pixel. Ozob (talk) 01:21, 4 July
