Indeed, I think we should close this as WONTFIX. We should improve any
efficiency or discoverability issues in VisualEditor, and help give users
experienced with wikitext clues to not accidentally insert it in VisualEditor.
See bug 50601 for one potential approach to the latter problem.

Wiki markup was an awesome in invention in 1995, helping users not have to type
HTML in order to format documents. But that doesn't mean the most efficient
conceivable user experience in 2013 ought to be bound to the same design
principles. (Nor should we blindly copy existing point and click interfaces --
for navigating the complexity of templates and such, we may have to come with
some truly novel interfaces.)
