There is consensus for a change to this element here:

To summarize - the garbage can icon to remove a link is not intuitive.  Users
may be unsure of its function, or believe it will remove the highlighted text,
rather than just the link.  Most other editing UI's employ a broken link for
this function, so it will be more familiar.

Suggested improvement:

*Replace "Garbage Can/Dustbin" with a "broken link" icon
(example:http://us.fotolia.com/id/49483380)

*Replace current rollover text "Remove" with "Unlink"
