The first one turned out to be duplicate of bug 50870, and not specific to VE (i think this is why i did not find it). However, the 2nd one *is* specific to VE, and i do not think bug 50870 covers it. so i changed the synopsis of this bug to indicate the 2nd problem, and i'm reopening it. i know that opening a single ticket for 3 different issues is not a good idea, and i apologize for doing something i know is wrong.
