       Web browser: ---
            Bug ID: 52301
Summary: Perpetually see "Talk: You have new messages" at the
                    top of every page
           Product: MediaWiki
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: PC
                OS: Windows 7
            Status: NEW
          Severity: minor
          Priority: Unprioritized
         Component: General/Unknown
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
    Classification: Unclassified
   Mobile Platform: ---

This is similar to an old bug #5220 from 2005, but it's occurring for me right
now. I perpetually have the message "Talk:You have new messages" at the top of
every page, even while I'm viewing my talk page, or any other page. The last
edit to my talk page was MiszaBot archiving some old threads.

I am using the Chrome browser. If I duplicate my Wikipedia tab, the problem
persists in the second tab too.

Experimenting in other tabs while I type this, the only way I have found to
make it go away is to manually enter https://en.wikipedia.com in the URL field
of the browser. Navigating anywhere by clicking will not cure the problem, I
have to enter a URL manually.

Stray cookie doesn't get reset when I visit my own talk page, perhaps?
