            Bug ID: 52759
Summary: Hide, move, or remove EducationProgram "did you know"
                    user preference
           Product: MediaWiki extensions
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: Unprioritized
         Component: EducationProgram
          Assignee: [email protected]

    Classification: Unclassified
   Mobile Platform: ---

The EducationProgram extension currently adds a user preference under the
"Misc" tab:

[ ] Show the "Did you know box" on your courses page.

I think this user preference can probably be safely removed. Users who really
don't want to see this "did you know" box can presumably hide it via per-user
CSS.

A second approach would be to turn this into a hidden user preference (add a
small close icon to the "did you know" box that toggles a hidden user
preference). We'll just need to figure out how to un-hide the box if a user has
hidden it (perhaps via a sidebar link from "Special:MyCourses").

A third approach would be to move this user preference under the "Appearance"
user preferences tab.
