Bug ID: 53518
Summary: Pages disappear from watchlist if logged out in the
middle of editing
Product: MediaWiki
Version: 1.22-git
Hardware: PC
OS: Linux
Status: UNCONFIRMED
Severity: normal
Priority: Unprioritized
Component: Watchlist
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
Classification: Unclassified
Mobile Platform: ---
This bug has been around for years, so perhaps there is already a report on it
but I couldn't find one.
Steps to reproduce:
1) Log into your account.
2) Add an article to your watchlist.
3) Click "Edit source" on the watchlisted article.
4) Force yourself to get logged out of your account (ie clearing your browser
data).
5) Make a change to the article and click "save article".
6) An error message saying: "Sorry! We could not process your edit due to a
loss of session data. Please try again. If it still does not work, try logging
out and logging back in." is received. User appears to be logged-out at the
top of the page.
7) Log back into your account (in a separate window/tab so as not to lose your
work in progress) and again click "save article" on the original window/tab.
8) The same error appears, but now the user appears logged-in at the top of the
page. The article still has a blue star to indicate it is on your watchlist.
9) Click "save page" one last time and the edit is made and is properly
attributed to the user's account. However, the page is no longer on your
watchlist.
This happens without fail every time I get logged out in the middle of editing
an article. Is there anyway to fix this so pages don't disappear from my
watchlist?
