Bug ID: 53780
Summary: Use Parsoid HTML for read-only views too
Product: Parsoid
Version: unspecified

Status: NEW
Severity: normal
Priority: Unprioritized

As mentioned in our roadmap [1], we would like to use Parsoid HTML+RDFa for
regular page views too.
This has several potential advantage:
1) It can speed up visual editing by eliminating the need to re-load content
for editing. We can use a hash to detect modifications by gadgets.
2) It make it possible to copy content between pages. See bug 52091 and bug
52936.
To make this possible at a large scale, the size of compressed Parsoid HTML
needs to be closer to that of the PHP parser. Site-specific CSS rules for the
content need to be adjusted to work on Parsoid's more semantic HTML structures.
