Calling the API is done in sort of a funky way. I'd like to make it easy for us
to queue multiple API calls into one batch, and to fetch the appropriate
results easily(ish). That way we can conditionally add repoInfo fetches, as
well as gender lookups or thumbnail sizes, and it will all be centralized.
I don't think this is a core functionality yet, but we should keep our eyes
open for chances to put this into core.
