I don't like this phrasing. It's not MediaWiki's new search engine as much as
it's Wikimedia's new search backend. However, the language itself is overly
complex for the audience, I think.

What about something like "We've recently made search improvements (learn
more)." The people who click "learn more" can then have terms like
"CirrusSearch" injected into their lives. Everyone else can remain happily
ignorant.

I'd also recommend a page on Meta-Wiki rather than a page on mediawiki.org,
again given the context and audience.
