I'm not sure if we do this now or not but it'd be good to make sure of: we
should still serve search traffic even if one of the shards is down. In this
case something is better than nothing. In our case we don't need to log
anything because we'll notice this via icinga alerts already. It'd be nice to
log something though. It might also be nice if this were configurable so folks
without as much monitoring could turn it off.
