Bug ID: 57447
Summary: notification of posts on my topic is misleading
Product: MediaWiki extensions
Version: master
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW
Severity: minor
Priority: Unprioritized
Component: Flow
Assignee: [email protected]
Reporter: [email protected]
CC: [email protected], [email protected],

Classification: Unclassified
Mobile Platform: ---
I created a topic title with no first post, and then when people commented on
the topic, I got notifications
<Name> replied to your post in <topic title> on "<board>"
View post:

Since I never wrote a post, this is misleading.
I think we need a separate message for top-level posts on a topic. Since the
placeholder text for these is 'Comment on "<topic title>"', maybe the
notification should be
<Name> commented on the topic "<topic title>" you created on "<board>."
(It's not "your topic" since that implies ownership of a topic.)
Does someone who edits a topic title gets notifications? If so, then their
message could be
<Name> commented on the topic "<topic title>" that you edited on "<board>."
