Users will most likely adjust their reading experience settings (text size, contrast, background color) once every now and then to their comfortable spot. Also, night/day mode should be an option to change automatically by the device. I think having to watch the changes on the article while you adjust is very helpful to a user and I don't know if we can achieve this if we put it under "settings" screen.
