Nowadays, https://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Help:Images#Format lists
   [[File:example.jpg|center|100px|caption]]
for 
   Specify horizontal alignment as: center
   Rendered as a floating block: no
   Rendered inline: no

To me this seems to cover the request made in the initial comment, hence
closing as WORKSFORME. Please reopen in case this does not fulfil your needs,
and elaborate why. Thanks.
