Solving the bug is easy, the problem is that a design has not been agreed upon. Setting UNCONFIRMED again, nobody proposed alternatives. At this point I'm afraid the only solution may be a user preference... Another solution that would probably be approved easily enough if someone submits a patch is section edit on double click (when the corresponding preference is enabled).
