Bug ID: 64327
Summary: Move "last modified" out of footer, closer to the top
Product: MediaWiki
Version: 1.23-git
Hardware: All
OS: All
Status: NEW
Keywords: design
Severity: enhancement
Priority: Unprioritized
Component: Skin and page rendering

This has previously been done via JavaScript, which was not a durable solution
but appeared to be rather uncontroversial and effective enough.

We can probably first just move the "last modified" bit as is.
The change is probably in contrast with the request to merge "last modified"
and "print version" links (bug 3575), but is not with the merge to the
permanent link (bug 64312). The main problem is that our skins deal with the
footer in a less than clean way, I suppose...
Making the timestamp less verbose and/or a way to "advertise" action=history
(as the extension in question did) would be a separate bug.
