Summary: Wiki markup punctuation in article titles disables
Navigation popups
Product: MediaWiki
Version: unspecified
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: enhancement
Priority: Normal
Component: General/Unknown
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
When the title of an article includes an en dash or an em dash (and who knows
how many others), a Wikilink of that title will not allow
[[Wikipedia:tools/Navigation popups]] to function. Currently
[[Hanna&endash;Barbera]] is in such condition. I have been unable to find where
he/she got it, but in October an anonymous IP (baffling!) somehow placed some
form of insert for the ellipses in ''[[It's a Bird...It's a Plane...It's
Superman]]''. He/she was replacing commas, so when I discovered that this
disabled Navpopups, I replaced each with three periods, restoring operation of
the tool . Hence, my concern of just what else has the same problematical
effect. I must admit that I understood practically none of the terms presented
to me to choose from on this page, and apologize if making the right choices
would have been helpful. "Enhancement" was already chosen, and "All" or
something similarly non-specific is not an option there.
