Right now we are using the Chinese analyzer built into Elasticsearch but I recently discovered that it is deprecated and we'll likely have to switch to Elasticsearch's "smart Chinese plugin". There are a few other options for Chinese analysis but the last time I checked all of the instructions for setting them up were in Chinese so I couldn't evaluate them.
