This also happens on newly created pages (as far as I can see) so a browser
cache issue as suggested seems very unlikely (and purging the browser and
server cache does not help). In particular, I just created a small test page
which for me shows problems on both FF and Chrome, regardless of whether I'm
logged in or not:

https://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gebruiker:Paul_B/Kladblok/test

These images should both show up at the same size (a width of 220px, if the
user did not change their thumbnail settings) but they don't. The top picture
shows up at a *height* of 220px (so a smaller width).

This is also clear from the HTML that I receive from the server, even when I do
a 'wget' from a Linux command line on a machine that I never use to browse the
web (remote access only).
