Mmm, actually the third option was "change for the sake of change". They are clichés because they are common, valid issues. And you have not addressed the substance of the comment. I would suggest your response - highly defensive and dismissive - is itself a cliché of "Dev knows best", except I also know the reason it's a cliché is because it's often true.
