            Bug ID: 67338
Summary: Special:Preferences buttons Save/Restore all default
settings (in all sections) is confusing
           Product: MediaWiki
           Version: unspecified
          Hardware: All
                OS: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: minor
          Priority: Unprioritized
         Component: User preferences
          Assignee: [email protected]
          Reporter: [email protected]
                CC: [email protected]
       Web browser: ---
   Mobile Platform: ---

This is related to bug 18961 and might be solved by some version of the idea
proposed at bug 65317.

At the bottom of [[Special:Preferences]], the options are:

[Save] Restore all default settings (in all sections)

"Save" is a button. "Restore all default settings (in all sections)" is a
link.

Especially when you're on the gadgets page, this is a bit confusing. The whole
page is

[Something to click on] Explanation of what clicking here does.
[Something to click on] Explanation of what clicking here does.
[Something to click on] Explanation of what clicking here does.

So when you get to the bottom, it almost seems like it's saying that if you
click on this save button, then it will "save" by restoring the default
settings everywhere.

A better design could include:

Bug 18961 – Making the "Restore all" link into a "Restore all" button.
Bug 65317 – Putting the Save button after the "Restore all" button.

or probably other options, too.
