It's just that expectations changed over time - Bugzilla was written in the 90es before somebody invented AJAX. :P The next dialog does let you choose components. And if you want a list of components of other products, click "Components". We will not investigate any time in fixing this in Wikimedia so this is a WONTFIX for me.
