Possible regression: Today I created a few fresh accounts on beta labs (desktop
Chrome browser, mobile site) to test other stuff, and I noticed that when I
tapped the edit pencil for the first time, I was taken to the VE editor instead
of wikitext editor. Awhile back, we decided *not* to send new users to VE by
default on any wiki and merged a patch to fix this -- looks like it's no longer
working
