Summary: Using pipes in links with punctuation truncates final
link
Product: MediaWiki
Version: unspecified
Platform: All
OS/Version: All
Status: NEW
Severity: minor
Priority: Normal
Component: Page editing
AssignedTo: [email protected]
ReportedBy: [email protected]
When, on enwikinews, I tried typing, for example, Alpha beta, gamma,
saving the link transforms the link into Alpha beta, and not
Alpha beta gamma.
** STEPS TO REPRODUCE **
1. Edit a page
2. Type a wikilink of any kind
3. Insert a comma somewhere in the link
3. End with "|]]", instead of "]]" or "|Epsilon]]"
4. Save
5. Look at the link you created
** WHAT SHOULD HAVE HAPPENED **
The software should only display after the first colon when viewing a page.
** WHAT ACTUALLY HAPPENED **
The software truncates the second half of the link so that only the part before
the comma is saved
** EXAMPLES **
converts to [[Category:Green eggs, and
bacon|Green eggs]].
Pineapples, sweetcorn & egg fried rice converts to [[Pineapples, sweetcorn
& egg fried rice|Pineapples]].
