MediaWiki already usees the meta link rel="canonical" tag to identify
'duplicate' pages by URL.
As far as I know Google is aware of this and makes use of that.

On the other note, it's possible to use javascript to display the redirect-from
message by hash-tagging.

ie.

http://mywiki.com/This_redirect
goes to
http://mywiki.com/That_page#r=This_redirect
and javascript can grab that and display a message.
