Steps to reproduce:
1) Ask someone to disable "thanks" notifications in the notification tab in
preferences — disable both email and web notifications.
2) View a diff made by that contributor (the whole diff, or its entry in
history, RCs, etc).
Expected result:
1) Thanks link is missing.
Actual result:
1) Thanks link is present.
2) Clicking it does nothing whatsoever, as the contributor is not notified (per
his/her preference).
