Intermittent bugs are the worst.
This is happening to me randomly in Safari 7.1: when I try to create a new
page, what I type won't show up sometimes. It seems like the first line (or
two) of the edit window is "hidden" under the edit toolbar. It just happened to
me several times in a row on a page similar to
https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Tech/News/2014/39&action=edit&redlink=1
.
It also happens on existing pages: I remember I had difficulties placing
templates at the top of a page on Meta, so I just tried to edit
https://meta.wikimedia.org/w/index.php?title=Talk:Community_Engagement_(Product)/Media_Viewer_consultation/Other&action=edit
, and the first two lines are "missing". Nothing happens if I try to scroll up
and down, with mouse or keyboard (except I can't see the cursor blinking if it
is on one of those lines).
