I just wanted to comment in concurrence here, that my experience with our
internal wiki where we are (very sadly) required to run IE6 has the same exact
problem, so this is not strictly Wikipedia-related. Page loads (even on very
simple pages) are drastically reduced by at least half when using vector versus
our monobook-based skin.
