             Bug #: 28907
Summary: MediaWiki should not go to the main tab after saving
                    preferences
           Product: MediaWiki
           Version: unspecified
          Platform: All
        OS/Version: All
            Status: NEW
          Severity: normal
          Priority: Unprioritized
         Component: User preferences
        AssignedTo: [email protected]
        ReportedBy: [email protected]
                CC: [email protected]
    Classification: Unclassified

Currently, if a user wants to play with the available preferences in a section
other than the first (e.g. to enable/disable some gadgtets), he gets redirected
to
[[Special:Preferences&success]]
where the following message is displayed

*** Your preferences have been saved. ***

Instead of this, MediaWiki should keep the "#preftab-8" part of the URL as in:
[[Special:Preferences&success#preftab-8]]
so that the user doesn't need to change to the tab he was before saving the
changes.

(this is a little annoying if e.g. we are trying to find which of the N gadgets
available is the cause of a bug, and we need to click in the "Gadgets" tab
every time we save our preferences)
