No reference to the extension being discussed, but I assume it's http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Admin_Links It sounds to me like some of those bits should probably go into core, or else be fleshed out and made really nice... probably could use an overall review & refresh. If it really is useful, it should probably be generally on rather than hi-specific.
