To see it in action: [[MeatBall:]] doesn't work ([[mw:]] neither but it's
probably an error), you surely don't want to add such links to sidebar.

That would be another bug but I'd hope this to be at most opt-out for Wikimedia
wikis; in other words, we should find a solution which works for most people.
More realistically, though, shouldn't the configuration be true by default in
MediaWiki? You still can control it by defining which interwikis are local, if
my proposal above is adopted.
