TASK DESCRIPTION
Last month Jennings Anderson from OpenStreetMap published an article with
several interesting OSM Data Analyses + Visualizations [1]. The most
fascinating charts from this article was (in my opinion) the graph about Time
Span of OSM Contributor Engagement (first image in the section Contributor
Lifespans [2]). The chart maps the date of the first edit of an user on the
x-axis, the date of the last edit of an user on the y-axis and the number of
edits of an user as a color (in one of four ranges). So new users are in the
top right corner, old users who are still active are in the top right corner
and every user close to the center diagonal stopped editing shortly after
signing up. Really interesting are the lines that appear from all of the
individual data points.

I think it would be awesome to have a similar chart for Wikidata. It might
even show some so far unknown trends and events in terms of user activity. It
might also help identifying problems that stop new users from further engaging
with the site. But this is just a hunch, that it actually will be useful. But
it certainly will look cool and isn't that in itself a reason to do this?
