Tainted refs is just plainly not depending on that datamodel at all. I also did not anticipate that when I suggested that task for onboarding. All their types <https://github.com/wikimedia/mediawiki-extensions-Wikibase/tree/9f9f1f046fa3845d5d9189929b81724dd1e04ce1/view/lib/wikibase-tainted-ref/src/definitions/wikibase-js-datamodel> are about the methods on the existing frontend "data-model" and there is just nothing about the actual data structures in their code.
