  So this is sorta funny, let me explain:

  - The vue component you mentioned is not using ULS, it's rewriting something
using vuetify and it's not complete nor have proper design (try it in here
<https://wikipedia.thottingal.in/>):

  - The ULS is a standalone jquery library:
https://github.com/wikimedia/jquery.uls and it's not too hard to wire it up to
our vue app but it's very ewww (for lack of better word)
  - WMF is redesigning language selector (as part of desktop improvements
project): T253303: Support for a responsive language selector
<https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T253303>
    - As result there are plans to write and publish a standalone language
selector in Vue: T266231: Create and publish a renderless language selector
component <https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T266231>

  My suggestion is to put the i18n work on hold until this aforementioned
ticket is done and then we start using it QB. If it's really needed as part of
MVP, we can wire jquery.uls for now. I'd call it a product decision.
