TASK DESCRIPTION Special:MergeItems <https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Special:MergeItems> as a standard Wikibase feature, is also available on Wikidata.org However, on Wikidata, mergers are mostly done with a gadget that relies on the api, see Help:Merge <https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Help:Merge>. Users trying to use the special page mostly end up being confused. Accordingly, it was suggested to de-activate the special page: Project_chat#Deactivate_Special%3AMergeItems <https://www.wikidata.org/wiki/Wikidata:Project_chat/Archive/2021/05#Deactivate_Special%3AMergeItems>. The only potential use at Wikidata could be to enable editing without javascript (per discussion), but this is currently not an option nor considered a priority.
