xhgui for beta sounds lovely, I don't know how it can be implemented. It might be quite a bit of work. You can look at server-side logs in beta cluster https://wikitech.wikimedia.org/wiki/Nova_Resource:Deployment-prep/Log_Files And if it's an issue in databases or replication, you can look at binlogs. If arclamp works in beta cluster, we can possibly look at flamegraphs as well.
