Quick update: code supporting the new structure for the menu (T323694 <https://phabricator.wikimedia.org/T323694>) is already available. Given the review and deployment process, it may still take a week to become visible to users It was confirmed that this update is not changing the way items are added to the menu from the code perspective. So the "Edit language links" option can be added in the usual way.
